The Microlife Digital Peak Flow Meter with FEV1 is the doctor's choice for managing diseases that restrict lung performance. This advanced meter for spirometry includes a digital diary and measures air flow velocity and volume (FEV1) to indicate early warning signs for impending asthmatic incidents or conditions. Using these measurements in conjunction with a doctor's consultation allows patients with asthma, COPD and other lung diseases to manage their condition.

PEF, or Peak Expiratory Flow, measures how fast you can push air out of your lungs. FEV, or Forced Expiratory Volume, measures how much air a person can exhale during a forced breath. This meter is suitable for use by asthmatics, those with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), and individuals with other respiratory problems, as well as athletes.

The digital peak flow meter provides superior accuracy compared to mechanical methods, offering an exact reading and avoiding accidental mistakes. It measures the flow rate at one hundredths of a liter per minute, and automatically records the results. Consistent and accurate readings will improve your ability to assess your condition effectively.

The meter automatically stores the highest reading from each session, allowing you to test multiple times and record your best result. Patients who measure and record their readings are better able to monitor and manage their conditions.

The meter can be connected to a PC, and the user-friendly analysis software allows you to chart your progress, print graphs, make notes about your symptoms or triggers, export your results to a spreadsheet, and share your results with your healthcare provider.

To take a measurement, stand up, hold the peak flow meter with both hands, take a deep breath, and blow into the mouthpiece as hard as you can for as long as possible, bending forward to push all the air from your lungs. Measure your peak flow rate twice daily and close to the same time each day.

The green, yellow, and red bars on the display provide a quick visual reference to show how your results compare to your personal best. The arrow on the display will indicate whether your measurement is within the normal (green), borderline (yellow), or danger (red) range.

To clean the meter, simply separate the mouthpiece and measuring tube, then clean the parts with soap and warm water. Air dry. The meter comes with three color-coded mouthpieces, allowing you to monitor yourself and your child, or rotate them between uses for cleaning.

The Microlife Digital Peak Flow Meter with FEV1 meets American Thoracic Society standards, and its features include:

  • Peak Flow readings: Accuracy of ± 25 l/min or 12% of the reading, whichever is greater, and a range of ± 0.1 or 50 to 900 l/min.
  • FEV1 readings: Accuracy of ± 0.1 or ± 5% of the reading, whichever is greater, and a range of 0.01 to 9.99.
  • Measurement duration: Measures after blowing as hard and fast as possible into the tube, with 3 measurements recommended for best results.
  • Memory: Stores 240 readings.
  • Incident risk indicator: Default or customized to 80/60/50% of one's personal best measurement.
  • Electronically independent: No phone or connection to the cloud needed, and no security concerns about sharing medical data.
  • Lightweight: Weighs about as much as a medium apple, at 5.3 oz.

The box contents include a Digital Peak Flow & FEV1 Meter, 3 Washable Mouthpieces, Tracking and Analysis Software, a USB Cable, a Deluxe Storage Case, an Instruction Booklet in English and Spanish, 2 AAA Batteries, and 15 Traffic Light Risk Indicator Cards.
